A heavy-duty full-size with everyday comfort. introductionthough it's now the oldest design among current full-size pickups, the dodge ram may still be the best-looking truck on the market. Clearly, it's the most stylish. it drives and rides well with quick steering and excellent brakes. Five engines are offered: 3. 9-liter v6, 5. 2-liter v8, 5. 9-liter v8, 8. 0-liter v10 and two cummins 5. 9-liter diesel inline-6 choices. Every engine comes with a choice of 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. Short and long beds are available. the 5. 2-liter v8 produces 230 horsepower, while the 5. 9-liter v8 generates 245 horsepower and an impressive 335 pounds-feet of torque. The basic cummins diesel produces 235 horsepower and 460 pounds-feet of torque, while the new-for-2001 high-output version cranks out 245 horsepower and a stump-pulling 505 pounds-feet of torque. standard, club cab and quad cab bodies are available in lt, laramie slt, and sst trim levels. The bold design with broad-shouldered front fenders is reminiscent of big freightliners steaming down the road with a full load of logs. It remains the best-looking pickup on the market. To improve structural rigidity, dodge designed a beam that runs laterally under the truck, and reinforced both the a and c pillars. Side door guard beams were also added to improve protection from side impacts. the optional sport package comes with a body-colored grille and front and rear bumpers, decals, fog lamps, outline white letter tires, and cast aluminum wheels. The absence of a b-pillar makes it much easier to get in or out of the rear seat; it also makes it much easier to stick something behind the front seats. This includes a new steering wheel design, a big storage compartment, an extra power point, and new cupholders designed to handle any commercially available drink container. Other recent improvements include a keyless remote entry system, an upgraded base sound system, a cassette and cd sound system option and a new center console. The instrument pod features vacuum-fluorescent odometer and trip odometer that are tamperproof, and there are driver-programmable keyless entry key fobs. Other interior features include heated power mirrors, illuminated power door locks and window switches, and an optional security alarm system. the front seat in all rams is divided 40/20/40, with a huge fold-down center section that doubles as armrest and writing table. When no one is sitting in it, the center position provides a large storage box, with divided spaces for coins, cassettes, maps or a laptop computer. The front seat belts are integrated into the seats themselves, which gets rid of messy hanging belts -- a particularly nice improvement for the wide-open quad cab doorway. the quad cab rear seat is the same one used in other extended cab versions. It's handy for children, pets and petite adults, but it is not very comfortable for adults on long trips. The bench portion of the seat flips up out of the way effortlessly from either side for hauling tools or cargo. The power window option comes with an express-down switch on the driver's side. Steering wheel mounted radio controls are optional. There are two new overhead console designs; one with and one without trip computer. This engine has a ton of torque and a broad power band, which makes it a great deal of fun to drive. Passing is effortless. The manual transmission can add flexibility in off-road situations, but we recommend the automatic for street use. Rear suspension is a conventional live axle with leaf springs designed to carry heavy loads. The dodge v8 pickup truck has for years had a special kind of presence on the street, and the ram backs up that presence with excellent street manners and ride. steering revisions that were new last year make steering much more precise than earlier models. Steering in the earlier rams was light and quick, but had a lot of dead space on-center and seemed to require constant left-right adjustments. braking, with discs in front, drums in rear, is exemplary. The ram stops quickly with superb straight-line stability. Recent improvements to the instrumentation, powertrain and body combinations have made it an all-around better truck.

2008 saturn vue review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. It will eventually be sold around the world in saturn, opel, chevrolet, holden and daewoo brands. About the only things left over from the old plastic-sided vue are a couple of its powertrains. Otherwise, it's a much fresher, sportier-looking vehicle than the big, slab-sided square-cornered suv it replaces. as such, the all-new 2008 saturn vue presents itself with a slightly smaller interior in terms of its total cubic feet of storage, but a much more pleasant and useable interior than the outgoing model provided. with two trim levels, three engines, two transmissions and a choice front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, the 2008 saturn vue fits below the larger and roomier, eight-passenger saturn outlook in both size and price. The vue retails from about $21,400 for a basic front-drive model to more than $31,000 for a loaded all-wheel-drive version. While the starting price is more than $3,000 higher than that of the previous model, the list of additional standard content is quite long, so the value proposition is still a good one. The available v6 engine comes with a six-speed automatic that replaces the previous five-speed automatic, and better highway fuel economy (when checking the 2008 numbers against the 2007 numbers, remember that the epa has changed the testing procedures resulting in fuel economy ratings that are lower and more realistic results). With a v6 engine, the vue is rated to tow up to 3500 pounds. saturn loaded the new 2008 vue down with safety equipment. The vue comes standard with a full complement of air bags, traction and stability control, anti-lock brakes. with more standard features, more power, and better fuel economy, the all-new 2008 saturn vue represents a vehicle that's full of space and storage, easy to use, easy to drive, and easy on the eyes. lineupthe 2008 saturn vue comes in a choice of xe and xr trim. Both xe and xr versions are available in front-drive and all-wheel-drive versions. Later in the year, an sportier vue red line or rl version will be added to the lineup, featuring larger tires and wheels, the 3. 6-liter engine, and other sporty interior and exterior touches and decors. Options include a dvd navigation and cd/mp3 player system 2145) and a high-end stereo system 325). This version of stabilitrak includes a trailer-stabilizing system that automatically applies the brakes when it detects the trailer swaying behind the vehicle. walkaroundcrisp, sporty and modern from every angle, the exterior design of the new 2008 saturn vue is dramatically different from the boxy old vue, and that's because it is based on the european opel antara crossover and not the previous american-bred platform. Where the outgoing vehicle had cheesy imitation wood and plastic, the new european look is clean, modern and classy in terms of design, appearance, materials and function. There's a good balance of brightwork to panels from the left door across the instrument panel and dashboard to the right door, and the heating/air conditioning vents are big, round and nicely done. the driver's bucket seat is comfy, containing but not restrictive. The seating position at front left is commanding and comfortable, and everything is within easy reach. The instrument panel is pleasant to look at, easy to read and use, night or day. Saturn has chosen brushed metal over shiny chrome, which avoids problems with fingerprints and sun reflections, and for that we give them high marks. It's one of the easiest systems to use of all the competitors in this segment, with big markings and good contrast. This is a mid-market opel design, so there's no wood in here at all, but the plastics, metals and fabrics are all very touchable and good-looking. Down below, the shifter is a single-gate model, surrounded again by brushed metal.\ there's 56 cubic feet of cargo room just inside the easy-lift tailgate with the 60/40 second-row seats flopped down. There's a huge glovebox, an under-seat box under the front passenger seat, more storage in the second-row console, and, hiding under the cargo floor is a whole network of nooks, crannies and cubbies built into the spare tire carrier assembly, and some almost-hidden storage way up front in the compartment. in the cargo compartment floor are two sets of rails into which fit a set of six sliding chocks to help secure cargoes of all shapes and sizes, with more tie-downs in the floor and in the seatbacks. The 2007 vue carried a rating of 63. 8 cubic feet of cargo with the second seat down, some 13 percent larger using epa measuring methods, but less useable overall than the open and hidden space in the new truck. driving impressioncompared with other five-seat crossover utility vehicles from the japanese, korean, european and domestic competition, the saturn vue behaves more like a european vehicle. That makes sense, given its german opel roots. the power steering is not overboosted or mushy, and has good but not great road feel. The ride is taut without being jarring, and body roll control is right up there with the best of the other europeans, including bmw and land rover, so the vue invites spirited driving, especially through long sweeping curves. Isolation from the world outside is very good. we were very impressed with the acceleration performance from the available 3. 6-liter v6. Paired with the new six-speed transmission, this engine makes the vue smooth, quiet, and authoritative without a lot of noisy cabin intrusion. The 257-hp v6 engine is near the top of the class in terms of power and torque. It'll accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about seven seconds flat. In sixth gear, the engine sound all but disappears, providing a relaxed, easy cruising mode. we like brakes that start braking right at the top of the pedal travel, and the saturn vue's brakes delivered on that, with lots of braking power at the initial stab of the pedal and even more with more pedal travel, very linear and effective. summarythe sat. The great american pony car adds bullitt to its arsenal. introductionthe ford mustang defined the pony car segment in 1964 and was a runaway sales success. It helped create a niche that exploded in popularity with the camaro, firebird, barracuda, cougar, javelin, and challenger. The mustang gt comes with a 300-hp v8 and is an absolute hoot to drive, making all the right sounds, hanging onto corners tenaciously, and delivering thrilling acceleration performance. The american pony car has never been better than the current mustang gt. the mustang is available as a coupe or convertible. The mustang v6 deluxe is a nice cruiser and its 4. 0-liter v6 engine is a solid performer, all for around $20,000. But the mustang gt is what the mustang is all about and the basis of the legend. for 2008, a new bullitt model joins the herd. Faithfully styled to celebrate the hero car in the famous chase scene starring steve mcqueen, the 2008 mustang bullitt is tuned to a higher level than the standard gt. Some media have positioned the bullitt as nothing more than a hopped up mustang, but that sells what's going on here a bit short. Rather than simply bolting on some modifications and re-tuning the setup, ford took the higher road, thoroughly re-engineering and painstakingly massaging the bullitt to attain its additional performance. In other words, they did it the hard way, the right way. Ford used technology learned from development of the shelby cars, and the chief engineer for the mustang says technology gained from the development of the bullitt will be used in the next-generation mustang. In any case, the bullitt is more responsive than the mustang gt. Ford plans to build about 7,000 bullitt models. for 2008, three shelby models are available: the 319-hp shelby gt comes in coupe and convertible form along with the 540-hp shelby gt500kr coupe. Its solid rear axle is bouncy on bad pavement, however, and all this comes at a substantial price increase. for 2008, front side airbags come standard on all mustangs, and high-intensity discharge headlights and interior ambient lighting are newly available. while its styling is retro inspired, the mustang is a thoroughly modern car. Redesigned from a clean sheet of paper for 2005, the current mustang is fast and agile, more so than any past mustangs.
